
Have Hammer…Will Travel
is a Mexican charity association located in Riberas del Pilar, along the north shore of Lake Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico.
The mission of HHWT is to provide learning and social experiences within a safe, supportive environment so that our students acquire:
- basic woodworking skills for exploration of career pathways (Level I; ages 10-14)
- intermediate woodworking skills for entry level employment (Level II; ages 15+)
- advanced woodworking skills for professional employment, incl. co-ops (Level III ages 21+) in development
- skills to maintain a well equipped woodworking shop in order to enhance the economic potential of families in the Lake Chapala communities.

Curriculum:
Currently divided into Level I and Level II. Level III is in the planning stage.
LEVEL I PROGRAM-INTRODUCTION TO WOODWORKING
provides basic career awareness and exploration through hands-on experiences focused on the safe and basic use of hand tools and on interpersonal skills needed to work with others.
LEVEL II PROGRAM-BEGINNING WOODWORKING
provides the experiences required to develop the skills and dispositions necessary to enter the field of woodworking at a semi-skilled level.
LEVEL III PROGRAM-INTERMEDIATE WOODWORKING
will provide the experience required to develop the skills and dispositions necessary to enter the business of woodworking at a skilled level.
